Preference in Services to Those who Served in the Military

According to this bill, housing, education, and other public services shall be granted preferentially to individuals who have served in the Israeli military or completed national service. Currently, Arab citizens and others are collectively exempt from military service and can voluntarily choose to carry out national service.
 
25 May 2010: Bill presented in Knesset.
5 July 2010: Bill passed preliminary reading.
 
Status: The bill is expected to be debated in the Knesset’s Employment, Welfare, and Health Committee together with a government-sponsored bill concerning incentives for those who completed military service.
