Bill on Banning Veils in Public

According to this bill, officially titled “Penalty Code (Amendment – Prohibition on Covering the Face in Public Places,” it would be illegal to cover one’s face in public and the offense will carry a penalty of a fine or imprisonment. It would also be prohibited to require another person to cover their face in public.
12 July 2010: Bill presented in Knesset.
30 January 2011: Ministerial Committee on Legislation decided to not support the bill.
Status: Not approved by the government.
